Meranese di Collina (I)

Subzone (also Meraner, Italian Meranese di Collina or Meranese) for red wine within the DOC range South Tyrol (Alto Adige) in the Italian wine sector South-Tirol (in the double region Trentino-Alto Adige ). The zone comprises the south and south-west slopes around the city of Merano on both sides of the Adige in the municipalities of Algund (Lagundo), Burgstall (Postal), Gargazon (Gargazzone), Kuens (Caines), Lana (Lana), Tscherms ( Cermes), Marling (Marlengo), Meran (Merano), Riffian (Rifiano), Schenna (Scena), St. Pankraz (San Pancrazio), Tisens (Tesimo) and Dorf Tirol (Tirolo). The wines from the historical locations around the historic Tyrol Castle may use the name "Burggräfler" (Italian del Burgraviato). If the grapes come from classified vineyards, can Vigna followed by the location name. The wine must have at least 85% Vernatsch varieties ( schiava ) contain; 15% can be other approved varieties. It is also known as the "Merano house wine".
