Merlaut Jacques

The French wine merchant Jacques Merlaut (+2008) established a trading empire in Bordeaux and was considered to be the gray eminence of the Bordeaux wine trade, The extended family Merlaut-Villars is also the main shareholder of the company "Bernard Taillan France SA", which deals with the wholesale of alcoholic beverages. The company owns the Bordeaux wineries Château Chasse-Spleen. Château Citran. Château de Camensac. Château Gruaud-Larose. Château Ferrière, Château La Gurgue and Château Haut-Bages-Libéral, Jacques' daughter Bernadette Villars studied with Professor Émile Peynaud (1912-2004) oenology and cooperated with this also in the reactivation of Château Chasse-Spleen. When Bernadette and her husband died in a tragic accident on a hiking holiday in the Pyrenees in 1992, their daughter Claire Villars-Lurton (wife of Gonzague Lurton ) the responsibility.
