The winery is located in the municipality of Eckelsheim ( Bingen area) in the German wine-growing region of Rheinhessen. The family has been farming since 1793, and the history of viticulture began in 1885. After completing her studies in viticulture and oenology, the winery has been run by Sina Mertz since 2015. She is supported by her parents Carmen and Gunter Mertz. The vineyards cover 11 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Eselstreiber, Kirchberg and Sonnenköpfchen (Eckelsheim), among others. They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Silvaner, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Müller-Thurgau and Scheurebe, as well as with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, Regent and Portugieser. Natural, environmentally friendly viticulture is practised. This includes individual and gentle soil cultivation, cover crop between the rows of vines, as well as the sparing and targeted use of fertilisers and pesticides with protection of beneficial insects.

Yield-reducing and quality-enhancing measures include adapted pruning, defoliation and thinning. In the cellar, the non-invasive principle applies with as few interventions as possible in order to preserve the varietal typicity and quality of the grapes. Depending on the type of wine, the wines are matured in steel tanks, large wooden barrels or barriques to 100% varietal purity. Special attention is paid to the two varieties Riesling and Scheurebe. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Scheurebe, the dry white wine "Scheurebe vom Kliff" was presented for the first time in 2016. The flagship of the house is the white wine "Riesling P", which grows on the typical local rock porphyry. The winery is a member of the Generation Riesling association.
