The white grape variety (also Freiburg 993-60) is a new breed between Seyve-Villard 5276 ( Seyval blanc ) x ( Riesling x Pinot Gris ). They are genes of Vitis lincecumii. Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera contain. The intersection of hybrid took place in 1960 by Dr. med. John carpenter (1907-1998) at the State Wine Institute Freiburg (Baden-Württemberg).
