The white grape variety (also Freiburg 993-60) is a new breed between Seyve-Villard 5276 ( Seyval Blanc ) x ( Riesling x Pinot gris ). They are genes from Vitis lincecumii. Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera contain. The crossing of the hybrid was done in 1960 by Dr. John carpenter (1907-1998) at the State Wine Institute Freiburg (Baden-Württemberg). The name derives from the district of Merzhausen in Freiburg, where the institute has several trial vineyards. It was a crossing partner of the new varieties baron. Bronner. Cabernet Cantor. Cabernet carbon. Cabernet Carol. Cabernet Cortis. Calastra. Helios. monarch. prior. Rinot. Solaris, The late ripening, fruitful and hardy Vine is resistant to both mildews and is therefore considered as PIWI -Variety. She delivers white wines fruity, aroma similar to Müller-Thurgau. The variety is in Germany grown (4 ha); it should also have a small stock in Belgium give (Statistics Kym Anderson ).
