The oldest winery New Zealand
in the area Hawke's Bay
(North Island) was founded in 1851 by French missionaries. Since then, it has been owned by The Catholic Society of Mary. The vineyards with 32 hectares are planted with the varieties Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Pinot Gris and Riesling. The best wines include those under the label Jewelstone (Cabernet-Merlot, Chardonnay, Noble Riesling).
