Mitschurinski

The red grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Seyanets Malengra x Amurensis. Synonyms are Michurinski and Michurinskii. It contains genes from Vitis amurensis and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in 1951 in the former USSR. It is named after the Russian botanist Vladimir Mitschurin (1855-1935). With the same parents, the varieties Severny and Zarya Severa were also created. The early-maturing variety is exceptionally frost-hardy down to minus 35 °Celsius and resistant to fungal diseases. It is mainly used as table grape. Its decorative autumn foliage also makes it an excellent ornamental vine. No stock was recorded in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
