MiWine

Trade fair for wine and spirits held biennially in Milan (Italy). It is organised by SIFA (cooperation between the Italian Unione Italiana Vini and the Milan Fair). It was held for the first time in May 2004 with around 500 top producers. The main objective is to develop a European strategy to counter the aggressive marketing policy of the New World countries, which is largely geared towards exports. The wine quality of the EU countries is to be propagated much more on an international level and emphasised based on terroir, tradition and origin. See also under Awards and Wine Events.
