Moenchberg (Alsace)

One of the locations classified as Grand Cru in Alsace within the appellation Alsace Grand Cru (Bas-Rin). You mustn't be with the Grand Cru location Muenchberg be mistaken for emergency stops in the community. The Moenchberg was owned by the Benedictine Order in Altdorf and was then taken over by residents of the municipality of Eichhoffen. The vineyards cover 12 hectares of vineyards on limestone soil in the communities of Andlau and Eichhoffen. There is a very dry and hot microclimate. The location is particularly good for that Riesling, but also for the Pinot gris suitable. Well-known producers are Armand Gilg, Domaine André & Remy Gresser, Marc Kreydenweiss, Charles Moritz, Marcel Schlosser and Guy Wach. In Germany is Mönchberg a common name used in several growing areas.
