The winery "Hacienda Monasterio" is located near Pesquera de Duero (Valbuena) in the DO area Ribera del Duero in the Spanish region Castilla y León. It was founded in 1991. The well-known winemaker Peter Sisseck, who later caused a sensation with his own winery Dominio de Pingus, works as cellar master. The Dane is considered a viticulture pioneer for the area. The vineyards of Monasterio cover 70 hectares of vines. In the vineyard, work is carried out with very low wire-frame systems in order to make the best possible use of the soil heat stored during the day and at night. The yields are extremely low, with a maximum of one kilogram per vine. The wines are cuvéetiert with a high proportion of Tinta del Pais (Tempranillo) of 70 to 80%, as well as small quantities of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec. Around 230,000 bottles of wine are produced annually, 60% of which are exported worldwide.
