The roots of today's winery go back to the Augustinian monks of the Naumburg Moritzklosters. The company was taken over by the state of Saxony-Anhalt after reunification in 1993, the vineyards were reduced and the basement and storage rooms were relocated to the historic Saalhäuser buildings in 2002.
