Mondeuse Grise

The white grape variety (also Persagne Grise) originates from France. It is a colour mutation of the red variety Mondeuse Noire. The variety was in use in Savoy in the 19th century. It was described by the French ampelographer Victor Pulliat (1827-1896) at the end of the 19th century and was considered to be now extinct. In 1950, it was identified by the ampelographer Pierre Galet (1921-2019) in the Domaine de Vassal grape variety herbarium. The variety is cultivated by the Domaine Grisard nursery (Savoie). No stock was recorded in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
