Monroe

The red grape variety is an interspecific new breeding between Concord x Delaware. It contains genes from Vitis labrusca, Vitis aestivalis and Vitis vinifera. Incidentally, the new variety Beauty of Minnesota was also created with the same parents. The hybrid was crossed in 1867 in the USA by Barry Ellwanger. It is mainly used as table grape. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
