DOC area for red wine in the Italian region Abruzzo
(The area has nothing to do with the eponymous city or city Vino Nobile di Montepulciano
to do in Tuscany). In 2010 was for the rosé wine Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo
set up a stand-alone DOC area. The zone covers hilly areas up to 500 meters, or for the midday sun-oriented southern slopes to 600 meters above sea level in a total of 174 municipalities in the four provinces of Chieti (60), L'Aquila (37), Pescara (39) and Teramo (38 ). The area is in the sub-zones Casauria or Terre di Casauria / Pescara (85%), Terre the Vestini / Pescara (90%), Alto Tirino / L'Aquila (95%), Terre dei Peligni / L'Aquila (95%) ) and Teate / Chieti (90%). The wine must be different per subzone (see above) at least 85% to 95% Montepulciano
