Montmollin

The "Domaine E. de Montmollin Fils" vineyard in the municipality of Auvernier in the Swiss canton of Neuchâtel was founded in 1936 by Ernest de Montmollin and his son Etienne. Since 1982 it has been run by Etienne's sons Pierre and Jean-Michel. The family has been growing wine in this area since the 17th century. The vineyards cover a total of 62 hectares. In addition to the family estate in Auvernier (23 ha), the estate also includes the Domaine de Chauvigny in Bevaix (20 ha), the Domaine de La Brosse in Chez-le-Bart (5 ha) and the Domaine d'Areuse near Auvernier (14 ha). All four estates are situated on the northern shore of Lac de Neuchâtel, the mild lake climate favours viticulture. Various wines from Chasselas are produced, the best known being "Neuchâtel Blanc". Other premium wines are "Goutte d'Or" (Chasselas), the Neuchâtel speciality Oeil de perdrix (rosé from Pinot Noir), Pinot Noir (with and without barrique), Chardonnay and a dry and sweet Pinot Gris. We also produce distillates such as Kirschenbrand and Marc, as well as the sparkling wine "Le Brut du Montmollin" (Pinot Noir, Chardonnay).
