Morellino del Valdarno

The red grape variety (also Negrodolce) comes from Italy, Despite apparently suggestive synonyms or morphological or name similarities not to the varieties Sangiovese (Morellino) or Morellino del Casentino be confused. According to 2008 DNA analysis there is one between Morellino del Valdarno and Sangiovese Parent-offspring relationship (but the more likely parent is Sangiovese). Another analysis from 2012 showed that Sangiovese from a cross Ciliegiolo with the Apulian variety Negrodolce, the latter being identical to Morellino del Valdarno. The last word of Sangiovese origin does not seem to have been spoken yet. Morellino del Valdarno was formerly in the Tuscany grown, but has no meaning today.
