Producers and Wine Reviews about the "Moscadello di Montalcino DOC"

DOC area for white wine in the Italian region of Tuscany. Already in the Middle Ages, sweet wines from Muscatel grapes were produced here with great success. The zone includes the municipality of Montalcino in the province of Siena, from which the DOCG red wine Brunello di Montalcino also originates. If the grapes come from classified vineyards, Vigna followed by the name of the vineyard can be indicated on the label. The wine is produced from Moscato Bianco = Muscat Blanc (85%), as well as other permitted (max. 15%). There are the wine types Tranquillo(still wine), Vendemmia tardiva(late harvest) and Frizzante. Well known producers are for example Capanna, Caparzo, Castello Banfi, Col d'Orcia, La Poderina, Poggio Salvi and Il Poggione.
