DOCG area (also Scanzo) for sweet red wine in the Italian region of Lombardy. The high classification was made in 2009 and covers a part of the municipality of Scanzorosciate in the province of Bergamo. The vineyards cover about 30 hectares and are located within the DOC area Valcalepio. It is a passito of grapes dried for at least three weeks. It is made from 100% pure Moscato di Scanzo grapes, the alcohol content must be "14% vol+3" (17% with converted residual sugar, with 14% actual alcohol). It must be aged in steel tanks for at least two years (wood is not allowed). The dark garnet red wine has a high ageing potential.
