The winery is located in the town of Krems in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Kremstal. It was founded by the grandfather of the current owner in the 19th century. A wine tavern is attached. In the last 15 years there has been a great expansion, the vineyards have grown from 15 to now 80 hectares. This has replaced the previously extensive purchase of grapes and wines from other wine-growing regions. Furthermore, extensive varietal conversions were carried out. In 2004, the winery received the "Hans Czettel Prize" for nature conservation and environmental protection for an exemplary Riesling terraced vineyard in the Riede Faucha, which was acquired by 19 winegrowers. The vineyards are located in the Faucha, Frechau, Kögl, Kraxen, Kremsleithen, Pfaffenberg, Sandgrube, Spiegel, Thalland, Wachtberg and Weinzierlberg vineyards.

They are 70% planted with Grüner Veltliner, as well as Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, Neuburger, Chardonnay, Gelber Muskateller, Sauvignon Blanc and Zweigelt. Grapes are purchased from contract winegrowers in the area around Schrattenberg in the Leithaberg DAC region of Burgenland, and red wines are pressed from them. The wines are either vinified in the vaulted cellars dating from the 13th to 14th centuries, or in the new stainless steel tank farm. Around 90% of the single-vineyard wines are sealed with glass. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced. Around one million bottles of wine are produced annually, and around 85% of the production is supplied to the gastronomy sector.
