The originally protected PDO area is located in the Kakheti region in eastern Georgia. It extends 350 to 700 metres above sea level on the right bank of the Alazani River in the municipalities of Akhasheni, Chumlaki, Kakhipari, Kalauri, Mukuzani, Shashiani, Vachnadziani, Vazisubani, Velistsikhe and Zegaani. Produced since 1888, the ruby red wine is made from the Saperavi and/or Saperavi Budeshuri varieties and aged dry for three years in oak barrels. It has a velvety, slightly peppery aroma of blackberries, cherries, plums and cinnamon. It is one of the best Georgian wines.
The Wine lexicon helps me to keep up to date and refresh my knowledge. Thank you for this Lexicon that will never end in terms of topicality! That's what makes it so exciting to come back often.
