The red grape variety (with the breeding number Leao Ferreira de Almeida 11-48-49) is a new breed between João de Santarém ( Castelão Francês ) x Alicante Henri Bouschet . The Tintinha specified as the father variety in the breeding list ( Petit Bouschet ) had occurred at 2013 DNA analysis turned out to be wrong. The crossing took place in 1948 at the Estacao Agronomica Nacional Quinta do Marques in Spain by the breeder Jose Leao Ferreira de Almeida. It must not be with the variety Negramoll (with the synonym Mulata). The variety is called wine press and table grape used. No inventory was shown in 2010 (Statistics Kym Anderson ).
