Mulderbosch

The vineyard "Mulderbosch Vineyards" is located five kilometres northwest of the town of Stellenbosch in the Koelenhof area in the South African wine district of Stellenbosch. The dentist Larry Jacobs bought the abandoned farm in 1989. The faithful dog of the previous owner waited until his death (in vain) for his master to return. The red wine cuvée was named "Faithful Hound" after the faithful animal. Jacobs gave up his work at the Johannisberg Clinic and hired Mike Dobrovic, known as the South African "Mr. Sauvignon Blanc", as support. New vineyards were planted and a new cellar was built. Since 1996 the estate has been owned by Hydro Holdings. The entire property covers almost 50 hectares, 35 of which are planted with vines. On two thirds of the area the white varieties Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay are cultivated, and on one third the red varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Merlot. The long-lasting Sauvignon Blanc, first introduced to the market in 1991, immediately attracted attention and is one of the best in South Africa. Around 220,000 bottles of wine are produced annually.

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
