Muscat Violet

The red variety is a new variety between the varieties Kaiji (Ahmeur Bou Ahmeur x Neo Muscat) x Muscat d'Alexandrie Red. The crossing was made in Japan. This variety should not be confused with Muscat Noir (Muscat à Petits Grains Noirs) or Muscat Rouge (Muscat à Petits Grains Rouges), the black and red berry varieties of Muscat Blanc (both synonymous with Muscat Violet and Muscat Violet Commun). In 2016, no stocks were reported (Kym Anderson).

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
