The wine production company Hammel SA with headquarters in the city of Rolle in the Swiss canton Vaud was founded in 1940. It is managed by the families Hammel and Rolaz. The estate includes ten wineries with 70 hectares of vineyards, eight of them in Vaud, one in Wallis and one in the Gevrey-Chambertin area in the French Burgundy, From another 500 hectares, grapes are purchased from contract growers. The most famous wineries are Domaine de Crochet at Mont-sur-Rolle (La Côte), Clos du Châtelard at Villeneuve, Clos de la George and L'Ovaille at Yvorne (all three Chablis). Among the flagship are the barrique red wine blend "Charles Auguste" of the Domaine de Crochet (from Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Viognier), and a burgundy vinified Chardonnay. A specialty of the house are late reading (Vendange Tardive) and sweet wines, which have already won numerous awards. The product plate also contains, of course, the traditional white wines of the Chasselas variety ( Dorin and Terravin ).
