The name introduced by the military government in 1989 for the state in Southeast Asia is not accepted by all countries. The former Burma or Burma is still used in German-speaking countries. It borders counterclockwise Thailand. Laos. China. India, Bangladesh and the Bay of Bengal. Most of the grapes grown are raisins and table grapes produced. The vineyards of the only wine producer Myanmar Vineyard Estate stretch west of the city of Taunggyi at 1,300 meters above sea level on the southern foothills of the Himalayas.
