The white grape variety originates from Spain. Synonyms are Alicante de Malaga, Alicante Encarnado, Alicante Rosa, Alicante Vermelho, Malvasía Portalegre, Malvoisie Espagnole and Uva Rosada. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2015, it comes from a presumably natural cross between Hebén x unknown partner. However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see molecular genetics). The rosé grapevine is used as a wine gra pe and table grape. It is cultivated in the region of Galicia. In 2016, only 0.1 hectares of vineyard area were designated (Kym Anderson).
Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
