Narince

The white grape variety originates from Turkey. Synonyms are Güzel Oglan, Güzel Üzüm, Güzül Üzüm, Kazova, Narance, Narindje and Nerince. The parentage is unknown. The late-ripening vine is susceptible to botrytis. It yields fresh white wines with diverse aromas of oranges, grapefruits and apples and lemons, which also have ageing potential. It is also used as table grape. The variety is mainly cultivated in the Tokat area, but also Amasya and Corum in Central Anatolia up to the coast to the Black Sea. It is one of the most important Turkish white wine varieties, which is used as a blend, for example in the brand wine Cankaya, but is also vinified as a single variety. In 2016, a total of 787 hectares of vineyards were reported, with an upward trend (Kym Anderson statistics).
