Appellation name from the commune of the same name in the Lalande de Pomerol area (Bordeaux); see there.
The appellation is located immediately north of Pomerol(Bordeaux) and is named after the town of the same name, Lalande. The very old wine-growing region was created by the Order of the Knights of St John.
