Near

The growing area is located in the country Rheinland-Pfalz in Germany and is named after the river of the same name. There are many preserved testimonies of the Romans who already cultivated wine here. The vineyards cover i4.237 hectares of vines along the river from Hunsrück to its mouth in the Rhine at Bingen. Near Bingen founded the Benedictine abbess Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179) the monastery Rupertsberg. The soils consist of quartzite and schist at the lower Nahe, porphyry, melaphyr and Buntsandstein at the middle Nahe as well as weathered soils, sandstone, loess and loam near Bad Kreuznach.

Blend

The Nahe wine combines the advantages of fruity, racy Rhine wine with sparkling Mosel wine. Mild temperatures and a lot of sunshine create an excellent climate for the white wine varieties that dominate with three quarters of the vineyard area. Compared to 2009, there were no serious changes. The newcomers were Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The dominant variety is almost one third of the Riesling, followed by Müller-Thurgau and Dornfelder. Status 2018 (0 = less than 0.5 hectares):
