The red grape variety is a new breeding between Severny x White Riesling (Riesling). Synonyms are Negritenok and Nyegritonok. It contains genes from Vitis amurensis and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in 1952 at the Viticultural Research Institute in Rostov (Russia) by the breeder Ya. I. Potabenko. The frost-resistant variety is cultivated in Russia, Ukraine and Moldova. However, no stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
