The red grape variety comes from Italy. Synonyms are Marzemino di Padova, Marzemin Padovano and Negron. The parentage (parenthood) is unknown; there may be a connection with the Marzemino variety. The variety was mentioned in writing in 1877 by Giuseppe di Rovasenda (1824-1913) and the following year by Hermann Goethe (1837-1911). The medium ripening vine is moderately resistant to fungal diseases. It is cultivated in small quantities in Trentino(Trentino-Alto Adige). However, no stocks were recorded in 2016 (statistics Kym Anderson).
