The winery "Neil Ellis Wines" is located in the Jonkershoek Valley in the South African winegrowing district Stellenbosch
, It was founded in 1989 by Neil Ellis and Hans Pieter Schroeder. Ellis had previously been to the cooperative KWV
as an assistant and then as a winemaker at the famous winery Groot Constantia
been active. Under his name, however, came as early as 1984 wines on the market. There is no own vineyard property. The grapes are purchased by contract growers with a total of over 100 hectares of vineyards from various areas such as Helderberg, Groenekloof and Devon Valley. The wines are vinified in the ultra-modern winery. Depending on the grape variety, they are aged up to 22 months in French oak barrels. The main varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinotage
and Sauvignon Blanc. Premium wines are a Chardonnay, a Sauvignon Blanc from Groenekloof and a Cabernet Sauvignon from Helderberg. Under the label "Inglewood" simpler wines are marketed. Gradually over half a million bottles of wine are produced. About 70% are exported.
