The winery is located in the municipality of Illmitz in the Burgenland wine-growing region of Neusiedlersee (Austria) in the heart of the "Neusiedler See - Seewinkel" National Park. It has been run by Gerhard Nekowitsch as a sideline since 1990. The vineyards cover a little more than four hectares. 80% of the vineyards are planted with the white wine varieties Welschriesling, Chardonnay and Sämling 88 (Scheurebe), and 20% with the red wine varieties Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch. Natural viticulture with integrated plant protection is consistently practised. Quality criteria are short pruning, targeted foliage work and the best possible harvest date. About 70% of the production are sweet wines in the entire Prädikat range. A speciality are reed wines, for which only healthy, fully ripe grapes are dried on reed mats for at least three months. These are produced as "The Red One" (Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch) and "Tradition" (Sämling, Welschrieslimg, Chardonnay). The premium wines also include the red wine cuvée "Rubino" (Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch), which is partly aged in barriques. The classic sweet wines are mainly matured in barrique. Around 25,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. The wines are exported to Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, France and Switzerland.
