The estate is located in the municipality of Illmitz in the Burgenland wine-growing region Lake Neusiedl
(Austria) in the heart of the national park "Neusiedler See - Seewinkel". It has been run by Gerhard Nekowitsch as a sideline since 1990. The vineyards cover just over four hectares of vineyards. They are planted 80% with the white varieties Welschriesling, Chardonnay and Seedling 88 (Scheurebe), and 20% with the red varieties Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch
. It is consistently natural viticulture with integrated crop protection
practiced. Quality criteria are short pruning
, targeted foliage work, and an optimal reading date. Around 70% of the production is sweet wines in the entire predicate range. Are a specialty reed wines
, for which only healthy, fully ripe grapes are dried on reed mats for at least three months. These are pressed, among others, as "The Red One" (Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch
) and "Tradition" (seedling, Welschrieslimg, Chardonnay). The premium wines also include the red wine cuvée “Rubino” (Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch
), some of which is matured in barrels. The classic sweet wines are mainly aged in barriques. Around 25,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. Exports are made to Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, France and Switzerland.
