The New Zealand winery in the Nelson area (South Island) was founded in 1978 by Tim and Judy Finn. It was named after a small village founded by German settlers in 1842. The vineyards with 40 hectares of vineyards are planted with the varieties Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc. The winery is one of the elite boutique wineries in New Zealand
, The Burgundy-style Chardonnay Moutere and Pinot Noir Moutere, as well as Riesling Brightwater and Sauvignon Blanc Nelson are among the top New Zealand products. Chardonnay Nelson was presented in 2003 at the premiere of the film "Lord of the Rings" (Return of the King) in Wellington. Tim Finn was voted "Winemaker of the Year" in 2003 by the largest Australian wine magazine "Winestate Magazine".
