Neusiedl am See

The winegrowing community in the Austrian state Burgenland lies at 133 meters above sea level on the north shore of Lake Neusiedl between the foothills of the Leithagebirge and the Parndorfer Platte (Wagram). The Hungarian Queen Maria (1505-1558) granted the place (next to Jois and Rust ) the right to mark their wine barrels with the first letter "N" due to their excellent quality. The vineyards of the municipality of Neusiedl am See used to belong to the Neusiedlersee wine region. In 2016 there was a restructuring in Burgenland, in which the former wine region Neusiedlersee Hill Country abandoned and (not congruent) by the DAC area Leithaberg was replaced. Some of the vineyards of the municipality of Neusiedl am See were assigned to this; these are Fügler, Kurz & Untere Neuberg, country road Hutweide, Lange & Mittlere Sauerbrunn, Lange Neuberg, Lange Ohn, Marthaläcker, Marthalwald, Obere & Untere Blindberg, Obere & Untere Froschau, Obere Wiesen, Stümpfl, oversize, Untere & Obere Gern, sugar coating I & II and dwarf fields. The rest of the vineyards from the municipality of Neusiedl am See belong to the DAC area Lake Neusiedl,

The vineyards in the Neusiedl am See area comprise a total of around 800 hectares of vineyards. The main types of white wine are Chardonnay. Riesling and Pinot Blanc ( Pinot Blanc ), the most important red wine varieties Zweigelt.
