The estate is located in Girlan, part of the municipality of Appiano (Appiano) in the Italian wine-growing sector South-Tirol
(Region Trentino-Alto Adige
). The family business was founded in 1852. , Josef Niedermayr and Stefan Rohregger act as cellar masters. In 2002, the entire winery was demolished except for the historic wing, rebuilt according to the latest requirements and the technology was largely renewed. A wine museum with many exhibits has been set up in the large column cellar. The own vineyards cover 25 hectares of vineyards, another 10 are leased. In addition, grapes are purchased from contract winemakers with clear cultivation criteria. 60% of the red wine varieties Vernatsch, Lagrein, Blauburgunder, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, as well as 40% of the white wine varieties Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc are processed.
For the most part, the wines are under the DOC names Kalterersee Auslase
. St. Magdalener
. South Tyrol and Terlaner
produced and expanded to 95% dry. There are three quality lines. The base line comprises around 15 wines, which are traditionally aged in steel and partly in large wooden barrels. The wines of the "CRU" line come from selected locations of our own vineyards, which mature in steel barrels or in used barriques. The top wines of the "RISERVA" line mature in used and new barriques for two years. Special editions like "Sauvignon ALLURE" are only available in particularly good years. It has been exporting to many countries in Europe, Asia and America for decades.
