Niklaserhof

The winery is located in the St. Nikolaus district above Kaltern at the foot of the Mendel Mountains in the Italian viticulture sector South-Tirol (Region Trentino-Alto Adige ). In its current form, it was founded in 1992 by agricultural technician Josef Sölva and his wife Johanna, whose traditional families have been associated with viticulture for several generations. The newly built wooden barrel cellar went into operation a year later, and since then the wines have been marketed themselves. Son Dieter is responsible for the basement. The vineyards cover 5.5 hectares in the Barleit, Galgenwiese, Kardatsch, Lavardi, Muttergarten, Putznai, Salt and Vial vineyards. They are planted with the white varieties Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Kerner, as well as with the red varieties Vernatsch, Lagrein, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is consistently practiced near-natural viticulture. The product range includes various wines from the DOC range Kalterersee and South Tyrol, Around 50,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. Around 25% are exported to Germany, England, the Netherlands, the USA and Japan. In-house distillery also produces fine brandies (wine, grains, fruit). The winery is a founding member of the Free wine growers in South Tyrol,
