Nobilo

The winery is located in the Huapai Valley in the Auckland (North Island) area of New Zealand. It was founded in 1943 by the Croatian-born Nikola Nobilo (1913-2007), who immigrated with his family from the island Korčula. In 2001 it became the property of the Australian multinational Hardy, which in turn was shortly afterwards incorporated into the US giant Constellation Brands. The vineyards cover 66 hectares of vines in the Gisborne, Hawke's Bay and Marlborough areas. Grapes are purchased from contract winegrowers with a total of over 500 hectares. There are wineries in Drylands (Marlborough) and Huapai (West Auckland). The wines are produced from Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Müller-Thurgau, Pinotage and Sauvignon Blanc. Nobilo has become famous for the slightly residual sweet "White Cloud" (Müller-Thurgau, 15% Sauvignon Blanc and some Muscat). But the premium wines include the series "Full Harvest", "Grande Reserve" and "Icon". Over five million bottles of wine are produced annually.
