The red grape variety is a new breed between Negru virtos x Saperavi, The crossing took place in 1987 Romania by Mircea Marculescu. New breeding is with the same parents Negru de Drăgăşani emerged. The medium-ripening, productive vine is sensitive to rain and susceptible to fungal diseases, It produces fresh, acidic red wines with soft tannins for quick enjoyment. The variety is grown in the areas of Oltenia in the southwest and Moldova. In 2010, 42 hectares of vineyards were recorded.
