The red grape variety is a new breed between Negru Virtos x Saperavi, The crossing took place in 1987 in Romania by Mircea Marculescu. With the same parents is the new breed Negru de Drăgăşani emerged. The medium-maturing, high-yielding vine is sensitive to rain and prone to fungal diseases, It produces fresh, acid red wines with soft tannins for more quick enjoyment. The variety is cultivated in the areas Oltenia in the southwest and Moldova. In 2010, 42 hectares of vineyards were recorded.
