The white grape variety (also known as Schiras Sämling) is a new breed between Riesling x Muscat St. Laurent. The crossing was made by the French breeder Christian Oberlin (1831-1915) in Colmar(Alsace, France). Incidentally, the Bouquet Riesling, Diamond Muscat, Edelmuskat, Feinmuskat, Feinriesling, Firn Riesling, Marienriesling, Muscat de la Republique, Muscat Dore de Semis, Muscat Flower, Muscat Bouquet and Muscat Riesling were created with the same parents. In 2016 no stock was reported (statistics Kym Anderson).
For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
