DOCG area for red wines and white wines in the Italian region of Marche. The upgrade took place in 2011, and the new DOC area Terre di Offida was created for the remaining wines in the area. The zone includes the municipalities of Acquaviva Picena, Appignano del Tronto, Castel di Lama, Castignano, Castorano, Cossignano, Montefiore dell'Aso, Offida and Ripatransone, parts of the municipalities of Ascoli Piceno, Carassai, Colli del Tronto, Cupra Marittima, Grottammare, Massignano, Monsampolo del Tronto, Montalto Marche, Montedinove, Monteprandone, Rotella, San Benedetto del Tronto and Spinetoli in the province of Ascoli Piceno, and the municipalities of Campofilone, Pedaso and Petritoli in the province of Fermo. The two single-varietal white wines Passerina and Pecorino are produced from at least 85% of the variety in question. The Rosso is made from Montepulciano (at least 85%). For all three wines, a maximum of 15% of other authorised varieties can be used.
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.
