One of the Alsace (Haut-Rhin) sites classified as Grand Cru within the Alsace Grand Cru appellation. The vineyards cover 36 hectares of vines on siliceous sand and clay soil in the municipality of Wuenheim. They are particularly well suited for the two varieties of Riesling and Gewürztraminer that are grown here. Well-known producers are Château Ollwiller and CV Vieil-Armand
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
