Name (also Opol) for a rosé-like wine from Croatia, which is produced there on the Dalmatian coast and many Dalmatian islands. The name is derived from "pol" (half for "half red, half white wine"), but Roze and Rosé are also common. However, this only refers to the colour of the wine, as it is produced exclusively from red wine grapes. In Central and Southern Dalmatia it is a wine with a controlled designation of origin (KZP = Kontroliranim Zemljopisnim Podrijetlom). It is made from many autochthonous varieties such as Babić, Babica, Crljenak Kaštelanski(Tribidrag), Ljutun and Plavac Mali, but also international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot. These are usually cuvées, but there are also single-variety wines.
