The red grape variety (also Lorisi) comes from Italy, It comes from a presumably natural cross between Sangiovese x Montonico Bianco, The variety was in the northeast of Sicily rediscovered at the foothills of the Monti Nebrodi. About a possible relationship with the white variety vespaiola (with the synonym Orisi Bianca) nothing is known. The late ripening vine yields tannin and acidic red wines with medium alcohol content. In 2010, however, no stock was shown (Statistics Kym Anderson ).
