Appellation for red, rosé and white wines in the French Loire wine region. The former VDQS division, which was created in 2002 from the Orléanais area, was classified in 2006. The vineyards cover 80 hectares of vineyards in 13 communes in the Loiret department. The rosé and red wines are made from the Auvernat(Pinot Noir) and Pinot Meunier varieties, while the white wines are mainly made from Auvernat Blanc(Chardonnay). There are also Coteaux du Giennois and Orléans-Cléry.
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.
