Orwigsburg

The red grape variety (also Black Palestine or Schuykill) is an interspecific new breed between unknown varieties of the American species Vitis labrusca and the European Vitis vinifera, The name was given to the city in Pennsylvania. The crossing of the hybrid was carried out in the USA by the breeder WE Hulings at the beginning of the 19th century. It was mentioned by RW Prince in the document Treatise on the Vine in 1830. The variety is grown in the US state of New York, among others.
