In the mythology of the old Egypt God of the hereafter, of rebirth, of the Nile and later of fertility. At first, Osiris (meaning "seat of the eye") played a subordinate role in the royal cult, since he was considered the god of the deceased, but not the god of the king. It was not until the beginning of the Middle Kingdom that Osiris gained all power over the realm of the dead, and since then has ruled over the king and became one of the most important gods of Egypt. Linked to it is the constellation of Orion. He was also known as the "master of winemaking" or "master of wine in abundance". As a god of fertility he taught the Egyptians the cultivation of wine and the production of beer, After him was the new breed Osiris named. See also below wine gods,
