The winery "Oswald vulgo Trapl" is located in the municipality of Lestein-St. Stefan in the Austrian wine region West Styria, A Buschenschank is connected. The house name "Trapl" was first mentioned in 1572, since 1765 the winery has been owned by the Oswald family. The great-grandfather of the current owner Eduard Oswald was already a graduate of the wine-growing school in 1912 Silberberg, The nephew Fabian has been working in the company since the 2015 vintage. The vineyards cover almost three hectares of vineyards in the vineyards of Hochgrain, Lestein and Schlossweingarten. The winemaking is very traditional. Eduard Oswald's motto is: "I only do what nature dictates". Even today with one Torggel (Tree press) from 1867. The fermentation takes place spontaneous with yeasts from the vineyard. Different Schilcher variants are produced. These are Classic, Rustical (acidic), Tradition, Exclusive, Kabinett and Magnum. The wines mature in decades-old oak and chestnut barrels. According to ancient records, they are only used for a specific one moon phase bottled, which is guarded as a family secret. Bottle-fermented Schilcher sparkling wine is also produced.
