Padthaway

Named after the city of the same name (suburb of Keppoch) Australian Wine growing area (GI) in the zone Limestone Coast in the state of South Australia. The name is derived from the Aboriginal name for "good water". Padthaway is north of the more popular area Coonawarra and is sometimes due to the similar soil type Terra Rossa referred to as its twin over limestone. The climate is sunny and dry with few rainy days, which is an artificial one irrigation requires. Seppelt was the first company to plant vineyards in 1963.
