Special wine-growing area (formerly Finca la Solana = sun-rich place) in the municipality of Malagón in the province of Ciudad Real in the Spanish region La Mancha
(Castile-La Mancha). It became the highest Spanish wine quality level in 2009 Vino de Pago
classified. The vineyards cover 58 hectares of vineyards on mineral-rich clay and granite soils. The only grape variety is Cencibel ( Tempranillo
) grown. The area is fully owned by the winery Bodegas y Viñedos La Solana (Florentino Arzuaga). The total possession covers 150 hectares, where also olive cultivation is operated.
