Paolina

The white grape variety comes from Italy. According to DNA analyses, Paolina is identical with the new Montagna variety created in Germany (personal information from Dr. Erika Maul, JKI). The late-maturing vine is resistant to frost, botrytis and both types of mildew. It produces fresh, fruity white wines that are suitable for sparkling wine production. The variety considered extinct has been reactivated. It is cultivated in small quantities in Puglia and near Trento (Trento) in Trentino(Trentino-Alto Adige). In 2016, 0.2 hectares were designated in Apulia (Kym Anderson).
